FAVRM Spring Forum in the Florida Keys!

2014SF (2)Members of the Florida Association of Volunteer Resource Management (FAVRM) participated in a fun-filled Spring Forum in the Florida Keys from April 30th through May 2nd at Hawks Cay Resort in Duck Key.  The Forum program, “Keys to 21st Century Volunteerism” explored the most current issues surrounding volunteer management in today’s ever-evolving nonprofit environment.

Among other comprehensive discussions, participants were able to take a deep dive into technology during a hands-on video production training that explored the use of basic video techniques to share stories of community impact.  A panel discussion on “Voluntourism” shed light on how local nonprofits can tap into a traveler’s desire to do good while exploring new places and cultures.

2014SF (38)“Our forums offer a wide range of resources and learning experiences for volunteer managers from throughout Florida,” said Mary Register, President of FAVRM. “And we’re able to positively impact different communities as we move each forum to a new location within our state.”

Forum participants were also able to immerse themselves in the flavor of the Florida Keys as their evenings took them to the Sunset Celebration in Key West on Wednesday evening and the Sunflower Festival in Grimal Grove Park where they served as volunteers on Thursday evening.

The next FAVRM Forum will take place from August 20-22nd in Fort Myers.  Details about the organization and its activities can be found by visiting http://www.FAVRM.org
