TALLAHASSEE, FL (November 5, 2014) – From Wednesday, November 12 through Friday, November 14, nonprofit managers from throughout Florida will meet in Tallahassee to turn their attention to building capacity through advocacy and development. During the forum, which will be held at City Hall and kicked off by Mayor Andrew Gillum, participants will explore a range of topics from understanding how to work with legislators to attaining Certified Volunteer Administrator (CVA) credentials and best practices for building or rejuvenating local volunteer connector networks.
The program will also honor outstanding volunteer managers and programs throughout the state in the following categories:
Outstanding Volunteer Administrator Award
This award was established to honor a Volunteer Administrator in Florida, who has demonstrated innovative leadership which reflects the high ideals of the profession and whose efforts allow volunteers to produce significant achievements.
Nominees include:

• Kris Juve, Coordinator, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program South Florida State College

FAVRM Innovative Program Award
This award was established to honor the outstanding achievements of a local volunteer program in their creation and implementation of a program/service, which utilizes volunteers to creatively serve both their agency and their community.
Nominees include:
• Leon County’s Annual 911 Day of Remembrance and Service
• United Way HandsOn Suncoast/ T-Mobile Huddle UP
• The Embracing Our Differences Education Initiative
FAVRM Betty Tribble Excellence in Volunteer Management Award
This award was established to honor an administrator of a volunteer program in Florida, whose work and achievements serve as touchstones of integrity, service and professionalism, and who, by example, reflects the highest and best ideals in all aspects of volunteer management, and whose work inspires volunteers and peers to effect change through service. The award was named in honor of Betty Tribble, an icon of service in Florida, and founder of the Florida Association of Volunteer Centers as a lasting legacy of recognition for a lifetime of achievement and service.
The Board of FAVRM is proud to announce that the 2014 Betty Tribble Excellence in Volunteer Management Award will be presented to Jeri Bush, Director of Volunteer Leon in Tallahassee, Florida.
